Our primary focus starts with young children. The majority of our activities support pre-K and elementary children and their early childhood development needs.
The construction of playgrounds and outdoor classrooms in partnership with organizations supporting children and families have been well received by the staffs and children attending at the various locations. Projects have been completed at West Midland Family Center, Midland County ESA at Longview, and Midland Pediatric Center among others. These playgrounds and outdoor classrooms inspire the young children’s imagination, inquisitiveness and expand their learning.
Youth Services include projects and activities for children/youth from 6-18 years old. Projects can address literacy, STEM, leadership and athletic skills. Also included may be confidence building activities and promotion of other skills that are necessary to becoming productive adults.
Midland Kiwanis Foundation
The Kiwanis Club of Midland created the Midland Kiwanis Foundation in 1959. Its initial funding was a gift of Dow Chemical Stock from a Club member. Today it is a major source of financial support for Midland and Midland County projects and programs. On an annual basis approximately 40 different organizations and groups receive financial assistance from our Foundation.
The Foundation projects and organizations receiving funds and also focused on children, although not exclusively.
The Foundation is managed by a six (6) member Board of Directors consisting of a president, secretary, treasurer and three (3) trustees.
